Eda Zavala Lopez, a descendant of a lineage of healers, the pre-hispanic Wari People, is a sociologist and anthropologist, and has made it her life work to be the connection between the modern world and the knowledge of the Amazonian plant medicine. She achieves this through her committment to protect, preserve and maintain the traditional plant medicines and their native land in the Peruvian Amazon. Every event that Eda does raises money to do just that. Eda is also raising money to fund a documentary about the Amazonian plant medicines. You will see the powerful and moving trailer for the documentary at any of Eda's lectures.

Besides her practice of ancestral medicine with her wise, indigenous teachers, Don Guillermo and Mama Dorita, Eda has also researched feminine shamanism in the Amazon and works with indigenous communities to help them protect their sacred lands and to save the rainforest.

   Eda has developed, along with her brother, Javier, who is a shaman and therapist, at their Indigenous Medicine Center HAMPICHICUY in the Peruvian forest, alternative treatment therapies using medicinal plants of the Amazon, because they have healing properties capable of curing physical and psychological illnesses, restoring the health of both. Their ancestors taught them how to find the fine internal balance of the human being to live in perfect harmony with Nature.   

  In ancient times, healers restored the health of the body curing the spirit, where chronic sadness, anxieties and depressions are accumulated affecting the vital organs. For that reason the medicinal plants have a unique quality: to cure the soul.   

 The knowledge of the traditional doctors are put in practice at this Center, and with the medicinal properties of the plants they identify, diagnose and cure chronic diseases of their people and of other societies, combining them with therapeutic western knowledge.    

The diseases of the present world are caused by abuse of toxic substances and industrially manufactured foods, and by personal dissatisfaction which leads to very deep depressive moods.
There is also a total ignorance of themselves, a total indifference of the environment and nature that surrounds them.   

It becomes necessary again to learn to coexist in Harmony with Nature, to respect it and to become aware that we depend on her, from her fruits and plants, from the air which we breathe, from the trees that gives fresh air to us, from the water that calms our thirst and of the sun that illuminates us and gives us warmth.

 In this fine balance resides the wisdom of our ancestors, and it is always very present among us. We only have to discover the path and know that back in the South (America), in the deep Amazonian forests, the magic of Mother Earth is very much alive.
